Tania Willard, Secwépemc Nation, works within the shifting ideas of contemporary and traditional as they relate to cultural arts and production. Often working with bodies of knowledge and skills that are conceptually linked to her interest in intersections between Indigenous and other cultures, Willard’s artistic practice has included social engagements extending into her interest and work as a curator. Willard’s past curatorial work includes Beat Nation: Art, Hip Hop and Aboriginal Culture, a national touring exhibition, CUSTOM MADE at Kamloops Art Gallery, and select recent curatorial work includes Nanitch: Historical BC Photography, Unceded Territories: Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun as well as LandMarks 2017/Repères 2017. Her personal curatorial project, BUSH Gallery, is a conceptual space on Secwépemc territory for land-based art and action led by Indigenous artists.
