Born in Manila, The Philippines where he studied Engineering, de Guzman immigrated to Canada in 1984. Dividing his time between Manila and Vancouver, his artistic practice centres around transient objects and nomadic gestures involving issues around architecture, urbanism, control-mechanisms and post-colonialism. His self-education in art was achieved by reading texts on art, theory and architecture.
