Irene Whittome (b. 1942) attended the Vancouver School of Art. She then spent five years studying printmaking at the Atelier 17 in Paris. Since 1974 she has been a Professor of the Visual Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Concordia University. She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and in 2004, she was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. Over 40 solo exhibitions of her work have been held, including the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, the Canadian Centre for Architecture and the Musée de Québec . She lives and works in Montreal, Quebec.
