Evangeline is a life-size figurative sculpture of a horse, and a companion piece to Bay Bébé II. Together, the work works refer to histories and cultures of settler Canada, and to rural life and relationships between people and animals. Joe Fafard, a longtime resident Saskatchewan, had a lifelong interest in domesticated animals and the relationships between animals and humans. The importance of the horse to farm life in Burnaby makes Evangeline and Bay Bébé II resonant artworks for this prominent civic and community space. Purchased by the City of Burnaby and Polygon Homes
