Shirley Bear is a dedicated elder, activist, feminist artist who has been at the forefront of aboriginal and women's struggles for many years. Her art is integral to her experience as a woman and as a member of the Maliseet Negootiook First Nation. Paintings, prints, photographs and multi-media works reveal her ongoing investigation into identity and issues related to knowledge and history and their transference between generations.
