Publication documenting a mid-career retrospective of Van Halm's architecturally focused works on paper created between 1979 and 2011. Among Van Halm's architectural subjects are museums, galleries, apartment buildings, office buildings, and retail outlets from Tokyo to Madrid. Van Halm explores mid-century modernist architecture and interiors, critiquing the modernist credo that good design betters the everyday lives of people. Her renderings of modernist interiors reference Mies Van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Alvar Aalto, Marcel Breuer, and Buckminster Fuller, and makes the viewer question if their work enhanced the lives of the many or the prestige of a few. Renée Van Halm lives and works in Vancouver.
