Hannah Bennett is a printmaker and painter from Langley, BC. She graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley from 2011 and is an associate member of Malaspina Printmakers and Dundarave Print Workshop on Granville Island. She also instructs art classes and workshops at the Langley Centennial Museum and the Burnaby Art Gallery and is an assistant technician at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey.
Her work often reflects fluctuating societal conditions through the depiction of particular locations and buildings, art historical references and varied cultural references such as children’s books, youtube videos, instructional manuals, news images and internet memes. A graphic quality that relies heavily on contrast as well as the juxtaposition of positive and negative space informs Bennett’s work.
