Born in Brampton, Ontario, in 1875, Caroline H. Armington was a painter, watercolourist, etcher and engraver best known for her depictions of the streets of Paris and of picturesque canals in Bruges. Armington did her formal training in Paris at the Académie Julian and immigrated to France with her husband Frank Armington in 1905. During her lifetime, she exhibited numberous times in London and was invited to the Paris Salon of 1911, 1912, and later at the 1935 Salon d'Automne. A solo show of Armington's work was also held at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the 1930s. She died in New York following a series of heart attacks in 1939.
