Elizabeth MacKenzie studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, and in 1993, she received an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan. Her drawings, installations, and video works have been shown in exhibitions, festivals, and screenings across Canada, the United States, and Europe. In 2012, MacKenzie completed a site specific installation of wall drawings for The Gaze of History at the Burnaby Art Gallery. For this project, MacKenzie drew from archival photographs and imagined historical figures from the Ceperley Mansions' past. Their portraits were then put up on walls throughout the house, some of which can still be seen today. MacKenzie is a sessional instructor at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and continues to live and work in Vancouver.
