Born in the West Indies, Nesta Bowen Horne studied at the National Academy of Design in New York and the Academie Moderne in Paris. Later she completed her training in portrait painting in London England. Horne came to Canada in 1929. She painted landscapes, flowers, semi-abstract works and specialized in portrait commissions.
