Luke Anguhadluq was born in 1895 near Chantrey Inlet, Nunavut. Anguhadluq spent much of his life as a hunter and camp leader in the Back River area, north of Baker Lake. In the early 1960s, he settled in the community of Baker Lake with his wife, Marion Tuu’luq, who later became a prominent tapestry and graphic artist. In order to make a living, Anguhadluq began drawing in 1968 at the age of 73. Anguhadluq’s experience as a hunter living on the land greatly influenced his art. He participated in the Bear Lake printing program from its beginnings in 1969. Anguhadluq died at the age of 87 in 1982.
