Odjig is an internationally-acclaimed artist who received the Order of Canada in 1986 and the Governor General's Award in Visual Arts in 2007. That same year, she also became a Member of the Order of British Columbia. Over her long career, Odjig’s work addressed issues of colonization and the displacement of Indigenous peoples, bringing these issues to the forefront of contemporary Canadian art practice and theory.
