The 30 foot concrete statue of Lord Chaitanya, whom Hare Krishna followers believe was the incarnation of Krishna (the Supreme Being), overlooks the 8 acre Vedic community at the ISKCON temple. The hollow, 20 tonne statue rests on a single foot. Lahiri framed the statue with welded steel bars, and applied a Soviet devised cement, with double the hardness of ordinary cement, to support the structure.
